SAN MARINO used a five-run third to defeat GODO 7-1 on Thursday evening to open another week in the Italian Baseball League. Ardley Jansen once again led the offense of the reigning champion, going two-for-five with two runs scored and a RBI. Roberto Toniazzi accounted for the lone DE ANGELIS run with a solo homerun in the eighth. Horacio Estrada gave up just five hits and two walks in seven innings, picking up the win. He struck out seven. Emmanuel Ulloa took the loss after three innings, six hits, six runs (4 ER) and two bb. Danny Forte replaced him in the fourth and was able to stop the T&A offense.

Probably the best 1-2 punch in the IBL combined for another gem on Thursday. RIMINI’s Rafael Garcia and Gustavo Martinez gave up just one hit and five walks in a 7-0 shutout over PARMA, striking out six each. Orlando Munoz’ single with one out in the opening frame was CARIPARMA’s lone valid offering in nine innings. The TELEMARKET offense on the other hand, had no problems to score at all. Danny Gonzalez and Eddie Rios homered. All nine players in the starting lineup reached base, six of them scored, six drove in runs. Ricky Palma issued nine hits, four runs and a walk in five innings to take the loss.
