Teams in Baseball-Bundesliga battle for Playoff Berths

Posted on June 5, 2009 by philipp

The race for the playoff berths in the German Baseball-Bundesliga is coming to an end. Just three weeks are left in the regular season and for some teams the dream could be over in the next couple of days. In the northern division the STEALERS host the WANDERERS in a matchup between fourth and third. The HSV needs at least one victory to hold of the CARDINALS, which are in PULHEIM on Sunday, and come to Hamburg next week for the final showdown for fourth place.

In the south four teams still have shot at the fourth berth. With the HORNETS and the DISCIPLES two of them meet on Sunday in Saarlouis. A third club, the ATHLETICS, play at home against the HEIDEKOEPFE. SAARLOUIS and MAINZ will play against each other next week too. The INDIANS, which are also right in the middle of the pack, are off this weekend.

The game day in Germany already starts on Friday with a night game at the Roberto Clemente Field in Mannheim between last year’s finalists TORNADOS and BUCHBINDER LEGIONAERE.
