Alligators won both games in Pulheim

The DORTMUND WANDERERS are the big winner this week in the German Baseball-Bundesliga. On Saturday they settled for a split in COLOGNE against the CARDINALS. Two days later at home they surprised the UNTOUCHABLES with a 6-5 walk-off win and a 3-1 victory to solidify third place in the northern standings further. They now have a four-game lead over the fifth-ranked CARDS and can start planning for the playoffs. The STEALERS, which had lost both games on Saturday in PADERBORN, and COLOGNE will battle for the fourth spot in the next three weeks. Both contenders will meet on June 13 in Hamburg, which should decide the outcome for the last berth in the north.

In the south the race for the fourth spot continues to heat up. The INDIANS and the HORNETS settled for a split in their doubleheader on Saturday and now are tied with MAINZ for fourth with identical 6-14 records. The DISCIPLES also remain in the hunt, though they dropped both games in MANNHEIM. However they are still just one game out. At the top of the ranking, REGENSBURG suffered the first loss of the season on Friday against runner-up HEIDENHEIM. They got payback on Saturday, when Matt Vance drove in the winning run for the LEGIONAERE in the tenth inning.
