With the month of May approaching its end, the regular season in the German Baseball-Bundesliga enters its final four weeks of competition. SOLINGEN, PADERBORN in the north, REGENSBURG, HEIDENHEIM and MANNHEIM more or less already have secured a spot in the postseason. DORTMUND and the HSV also have good chances. However the race for fourth in the south is still wide open. Four teams will battle for the final berth in the next couple of weeks.
This Saturday GAUTING is host to the HORNETS and either team can make a big step towards playoffs with a sweep. SAARLOUIS won the first two matches easily against the INDIANS. However they missed their top starters Paul Waterman and Chris Clem in these games. The third 5-13 team in the league is HAAR, which has to travel to the TORNADOS. They hope for at least one win, trying to maintain a good position for the final stretch. If both doubleheaders end with splits, all four teams will have the identical 6-14 records and the calculators will celebrate a comeback.
The game day opens on Friday night with another showdown between the two leaders in the south, REGENSBURG and HEIDENHEIM. In the north, DORTMUND and PADERBORN will play four times this weekend. The WANDERERS travel to COLOGNE on Saturday, before taking on the U’s on Monday. The latter is host to the STEALERS on Saturday. The GOPHERS play against the ALLIGATORS.
