PAMPLONA had no problems whatsoever to sweep the ASTROS last weekend in the Spanish Division de Honor. In game one they routed VALENCIA 16-6. Carlos Del Burgo went three-for-four with two runs scored and four RBI. Chris Iverson scored three times. Eric Cowes and Yorman Burguillos hit homeruns for the ASTROS. Patrice Briones (W 2-2) allowed nine hits, six runs and two bb in 7 1/3 innings. Elvis Polanco (L 0-5) surrendered ten hits, seven runs (5 ER) and three walks in four innings.

CD completed the sweep by scoring in four of the last five frames en route to a 10-3 win. Alexis Fumero homered and drove in five. F. Arnal went three-for-six with a homerun and two runs scored. Juan Redin (W 1-2) gave up five hits, two runs (1 ER) and a walk in five innings. Jose Martin (L 0-2) conceded five hits, three runs and five bb in 4 1/3 innings.
CB Sant Boi – FC Barcelona 7-3, 3-8

CB SANT BOI defeated the FC BARCELONA in game one of their two-game series. It was the first loss on the field for BARCA this year. CB took a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the third thanks to a three-run homerun by William Domero and added a few runs afterwards. The FCB offense finally woke up in the eighth, but it was too little too late. Yaeko Vazquez scored twice. Juan Salazar (FCB) went three-for-four with two RBI. Oscar Alvarez (W 6-3) allowed eight hits, three runs and a walk in a complete game victory. He struck out seven. Homer Baez (L 7-1) conceded ten hits, six runs (5 ER) and a bb in 5 1/3 innings.

BARCELONA moved back into second place with an 8-3 win on Sunday morning. Jesus Golindano drove in two. Albert Diaz had four hits, a run and a RBI in four at bats. Pau Sancho and Juan Salazar scored twice. Pedro Belmonte (W 6-0) went the distance for his sixth win of the year, allowing ten hits, three runs and a walk. Jose Estebin Cruz (L 7-2) gave up twelve hits, seven runs (5 ER) and three bb in six innings.
CB Viladecans – Tenerife Marlins 2-5, 4-9

The MARLINS defeated VILADECANS twice last weekend and remain undefeated. They even profited from the split between BARCELONA and SANT BOI and extended the lead in the standings. In game one against the Catalonian club, they needed to score three runs in the top of the ninth to prevail 5-2. Daniel Sanchez’ two-run triple put them up 4-2. Daniel Martinez later plated Sanchez with a single. VILADECANS twice was able to tie the game, but hadn’t an answer left in the bottom of the ninth. Leslie Nacar (W 8-0) picked up his league-leading eighth win of the year with nine strikeouts in nine solid innings. He allowed seven hits, two runs (1 ER) and three bb. Delio Miguel Martinez (L 5-1) was charged with five runs on 13 hits in nine innings.

In game two TENERIFE had to overcome a 0-4 deficit to win 8-4. VILADECANS had taken a four-run lead in the bottom of the third on a bases-clearing triple by Oscar Angulo and a RBI single by Felix Cano Sr. But the reigning champion cut the deficit to a run over the course of the next two frames and got in front in the eighth with a game-deciding five-run rally. Daniel Martinez was on base in all of his five plate appearances, four times through walks. Juan Macias scored twice. Ivan Granados (W 7-0) struck out eleven in eight innings, giving up five hits, four runs and a walk. Marc Jodar (L 2-2) took the loss in relief of Pol Llopis (4.1 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 4 BB).
San Inazio Bilbao – El Llano 7-3, 7-2

SAN INAZIO closed the gap to fourth-ranked VILADECANS with a sweep over EL LLANO. In game one BILBAO scored five runs in the first three innings en route to a 7-3 win. Dirimo Chavez scored three times. Rene Reyes drove in two. Fidel Mane (W 4-2) allowed five hits, three runs and a walk in 6 1/3 innings. Juan De Leon (L 2-5) was responsible for nine hits, seven runs and two bb in 5 1/3 innings.

In game two Alberto Magallon (W 4-2) gave up just three hits, two runs and six bb in seven innings to lead BILBAO to a 7-2 win. Kelvin Marianucci went two-for-four with a double, a run scored and two RBI. Jose Acosta scored twice. Elbis Alberto Avila (L 0-2) conceded four hits, six runs (5 ER) and five bb in 3 1/3 innings.
