Posted on October 3, 2007October 3, 2007 by philipp

The Holland Series starts on Thursday with a rematch of last year’s finals. Corendon Kinheim hosts Konica Minolta Pioniers for game one of the best-of-five-series. They advanced through wins against DOOR Neptunus and Amsterdam Pirates.

Corendon Kinheim:
After winning the regular season with a 33-7 record, they needed five games to defeat fourth place finisher Amsterdam.
Pitching: David BERGMAN (1-1) leads the staff with 13 2/3 innings pitched and an ERA of 1.98. Patrick BELJARDS (1-1) started also two games. He has a 4.76 ERA in eleven-plus innings pitched. Michiel VAN KAMPEN (ERA 2.25) got two saves in two opportunities.
Batting: René CREMER has ten hits in 21 at-bats (.476) with six runs scored and two RBI. Dirk VAN’T KLOOSTER (.381), Vince ROOI and Tjerk SMEETS have four RBI each.

Konica Minolta Pioniers:
The Pioniers upset Neptunus in the semi-finals and clinched the berth with a sweep. Their pitching staff dominated with a cumulative ERA of 1.33. Perfect timed hits completed the surprise.
Pitching: Richard ORMAN (1-0) and Roger KOPS (1-0) allowed only seven hits and two base on balls in 15 innings. Nelson SANTANDER (ERA 4.32 in 8.1 IP) was the only pitcher, who gave up runs.
Batting: Dè FLANEGIN led the team with a batting average of .444. Michael DUURSMA scored four runs. Mark DUURSMA had three RBI.

Prediction: Konica Minolta gets revenge for last year’s loss and defeat Kinheim in five games.
