Four European teams that competed at the Baseball5 Mediterranean Cup 2026 in Taranto, Italy [link], made gains in the WBSC Baseball5 World Ranking following the latest update, led by Greece, which climbed four places, while medallists Türkiye, France, and Spain all moved up one position. Kosovo, making its baseball5 debut, entered the poll at No. 70 out of 77, the first time it has ever been ranked in a WBSC discipline.
Türkiye’s 330 points gained moved it ahead of fellow WBSC Europe baseball5 power Lithuania, and the Bosporus-straddling nation is now closer to No. 7 Venezuela than the Baltic nation. Although France was favored to win, the Mediterranean Games silver medal boosted it past Japan by 251 points, which it formerly trailed by 10 points. Spain switched places with South Korea, securing four of the top 11 spots for WBSC Europe teams. Tunisia’s 184 points for its fourth-place finish puts it only 53 points behind Mexico, and it is the top-ranked African nation.
Cuba remain at the top of the WBSC Baseball5 World Ranking with 5,827 points, ahead of Taiwan on 4,801 and France on 4,636. Japan has 4,385, while Mexico is fifth with 3,843 points, followed by Tunisia with 3,790 and Venezuela with 3,324, while Türkiye’s rise to eighth means three Mediterranean Cup teams now feature inside the world’s top eight.
The next international event in baseball5 is the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal, beginning on 30 Oct. France and Türkiye will represent Europe, while Kenya and Senegal are the teams from Africa. Cuba, Mexico, Syria, and Taiwan round out the field.
In mid-December, Carolina, Puerto Rico will host 16 teams for the 2026 Baseball5 World Cup. France, Spain, and Türkiye qualified from last year’s European Baseball5 Championship, while Kenya, South Africa, and Tunisia are Africa’s representatives.
