
The Romanian Baseball and Softball Federation announced the passing of professor and coach Mihai Blaj, one of the pioneers of Romanian baseball and someone who dedicated his entire life to the development of the sport.
At the age of 77, professor Mihai Blaj leaves behind an impressive legacy. Founder of the Romanian baseball movement, formed generations of athletes at CS Biruin inda Gherăesti and LPS Roman, contributing decisively to the growth and affirmation of Romanian baseball. From 1991, he was part of the technical staff of the national team, assisting with the training of many players who represented Romania in European competitions and participating in numerous international competitions.
Among the most important results of Blaj’s career are the title of European vice-champion with the Under-12 National Team at the 1995 European Championship in Prague and the bronze medal with the Under-15 National Team at the 1999 European Championship at Ostrava. He also contributed to the Under-12 competition in the National Championship of Romania.
