Czechia’s Kovala Commits to NCAA D1’s Georgia Tech, Continuing Surge of Czech Talent into NCAA Baseball

Posted on July 21, 2022 by MrBB

Czechia’s Michal Kovala, the number-one-ranked prospect in Perfect Game’s inaugural ranking of European prospects, has committed to Georgia Tech University, milujeme-baseball.cz has reported.

Kovala, who is currently pitching at Combine Academy (NC) and has topped out at 93 MPH while also commanding a sharp slider and changeup, will join his countryman Daniel Padysak, who pitches at Charleston Southern University, in the top level of amateur baseball in the US.

The signing continues an influx of European talent into top-level, US collegiate baseball, with Czech talent leading the way. Marek Chlup won the NCAA Division 2 championship just last month with North Greenville University and Vojtech Mensik competed at the NCAA Division 1 World Series in Omaha in 2021.
