Posted on June 6, 2021June 7, 2021 by MrBB

The field for the 2020 Olympic baseball tournament in Tokyo is one step closer to being finalized, with the USA joining the already qualified nations, including the European qualifier Israel, after winning the WBSC Americas Olympic Qualifier in Florida on June 5.

The USA squad defeated Venezuela 4-2 to secure qualification, joining host Japan, Israel, Mexico and South Korea in the Olympic tournament.

Venezuela and the Americans Olympic Qualifier’s third-place finisher the Dominican Republic still have a chance to play ball in Tokyo as they have qualified for the Final Olympic Qualifier in Puebla, Mexico (June 22-26). This event will  determine the final spot in the six-team Olympic competition.

The Netherlands (WSBC ranking #9) and Australia (#6) will join Venezuela (#8) and the Dominican Republic (#10) at the final qualifying event in Mexico.
