Spain beats Germany 11-3

Posted on September 15, 2007September 15, 2007 by MrBB

Spain showed who is the hometeam right from the start scoring 2 runs in the 1st and 1 more in the 2nd. The German starter Manuel MÖLLER never found the strike zone and left in the 4th with 1 out (3.1 IP, 4 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 5 BB, 2 SO). The game was almost decided when the Spanish team added 5 more runs in the 4th making it 8-0.

Meanwhile the Spanish pitcher Joel HERNANDEZ had a fabulous day going 5.2 Inning with 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB and 6 SO. Very rarely a German bat toughed him hard and his outstanding curveball was always trouble for the German hitters. He was followed by Cuban born Remigio REAL who worked 3.1 excellent innings with no runs and 4 SO.

All in all it was a clear victory for Spain who had by far been the better team. Germany was never in the game and could not catch up to the high level of ball that the Spanish team played for 9 innings.

Today the Germans will play another very tough game against Great Britain who are still unbeaten in this tournament. Spain will face the Netherlands. If they play an excellent game they might be able to give the Dutch a close one.
