This Week in Facebook

Posted on April 5, 2021April 6, 2021 by MrBB

If you are not checking us out on Facebook regularly, then you are missing out on half of our coverage of the clubs, national teams, coaches, and players that make European baseball unique. To ensure that you do not miss out on any of our coverage, we will be running occasional summaries of some of the stories we have shared and touched on via Facebook.

The number of Europeans playing at US colleges and universities has grown over the past few years, and the list grew longer in March. Matthias Lacombe will be attending Cochise College, Paul Wittmann will be leaving Regensburg, Germany, for West Texas A&M University, and Jan Soriano is heading to Culver-Stockton College in Missouri.

As the number of Europeans abroad grows and it becomes more difficult to keep track of them, it’s a good thing Extra InningsUK is on the job.  The site is keeping tabs on the 164 European and European-eligible players on North American campuses.

Sem Robberse went straight to pros, signing a professional contract with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2019.  In an excerpt of a longer interview with The Walk Off Podcast, the top-30 prospect touched on what it was like to be scouted and his first taste of professional baseball in the US.

Speaking of professional baseball, former Major Leaguer Ian Kinsler will play for Team Israel at this summer’s Olympics in Tokyo, an event that the Italian softball team is preparing for as well.

For these stories, and much, much more, check us out on Facebook.
