WBSC expands digital, commercial footprint with launch of wbscoceania.org

Press release World Baseball Softball Confederation

Pully, Switzerland; 18 November 2020 — The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) and WBSC Oceania today jointly announced the launch of wbscoceania.org, the continental governing body’s new official website under the wbsc.org umbrella. WBSC Oceania is baseball and softball’s first continental association to integrate its official website within the world governing body’s digital ecosystem.

As part of the streamlining and extended branding, the WBSC has made available a full package of knowledge, expertise and technology in order to facilitate the framework, functioning and the creation of robust content for wbscoceania.org.

“The rollout of wbscoceania.org reflects the shared and greater global vision as well as baseball and softball’s continued international expansion,” said WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari. “Continental championships serve as qualifiers for the WBSC’s Baseball and Softball World Cups; therefore, the launch of wbscoceania.org is set to deepen our World Cups’ global digital footprint while providing new commercial opportunities for WBSC Oceania — this is a win-win. In this new COVID-19 world, WBSC is doubling its efforts to put the baseball-softball family in the best position for sustained global growth and to efficiently adapt and face new challenges in the upcoming years.”

WBSC Oceania Vice President Rex Capil said: “This is a significant milestone for WBSC Oceania. It assists in keeping the Oceania region connected and provides a platform for all to learn and develop from each other. We know the challenges of geographical distance, and now in this COVID world, we are learning to understand the distance of physical separation and loss of social interaction. The website looks great and will be a great asset for us all.”

WBSC Oceania’s website content includes all institutional information, documents and continental tournament calendar, as well as exclusive baseball/softball news and developments across the member countries and territories in the region.

With this initiative, WBSC aims to further contribute to the consolidation of the continental associations, making available for them a modern digital tool to improve their communication process and maximize their visibility, integrating them at the same time into the WBSC’s global digital strategy and Baseball and Softball World Cups.

The rollout of wbscoceania.org follows the recent launch of the WBSC Academy, an innovative e-learning tool hosted under the wbsc.org digital ecosystem, which aims to boost and standardise the global development of athletes, coaches, officials and the disciplines of Baseball, Softball and Baseball5.
