ESF cancels the U15 Women’s European Championship

Posted on May 28, 2020May 28, 2020 by philipp

Press release European Softball Federation

After long considerations and looking at the development of the COVID-19 throughout Europe, the European Softball Federation decided to cancel the U15 Women’s European Championship.

The Championship was initially planned for July 13-18, 2020 in Enschede, Netherlands.
In April, due to coronavirus precautionary measures, it was postponed to the last week of August.

ESF will organize the next U15 Women’s Championship in 2022. The first option for organizing the event will be given to TTT team in Enschede, since the 2020 Championship has been canceled.

“I am sorry for having to send this kind of information. The U15 Women’s European Championship is a key event for the ESF, being the chance for many girls to represent their countries for the first time.” comments the ESF President Gabriel Waage “A few of the countries asked me if there is a possibility to organize an unofficial U15 Women’s Tournament, after the pandemic. We will check and see if that is possible and if there are enough teams who are interested in this unofficial event.”

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, most of the international European softball Championships and Cups planned for 2020 had to be canceled.
