Surprise Vigo hosts Sant Boi on 3rd Game Day in Spain

Posted on March 27, 2009 by philipp

CB Sant Boi vs. Astros Valencia Spain

Of course, VIGO only played against CD PAMPLONA and the ASTROS so far. But they did their job and won three of the four games to stay in a respectable fourth position in the Spanish Division de Honor standings. This is not too bad for the promoted club. However this weekend, they have to take on a different caliber, when the undefeated Catalonian team CB SANT BOI comes to town.

Last year’s third-place finisher out-scored VALENCIA and NAVARRA 41-3 on the first two game days and they hope to continue the trend on Saturday and Sunday. SANT BOI will send Oscar Alvarez and Jose Estebin Cruz to the mound. They combined to throw 28 innings so far, allowing just eight hits, two unearned runs and seven walks, while striking out 29. Ronny Malave (1-1, ERA 1.69) and Juan Jose Lopez (1-0, ERA 3.72) are expected to start for HALCONES.

In other matchups, the MARLINS PUERTO CRUZ and the FC BARCELONA, which will take part in the European Cup in Italy next week, are scheduled to play doubleheaders on Saturday against CD PAMPLONA, respective EL LLANO. The ASTROS and VILADECANS also will start their two-game set on Saturday. BASEBALL NAVARRA and SAN INAZIO BILBAO meet on Sunday.
