Twitter launches Emojis for WBSC #Premier12 global baseball event, teams

TOKYO — 1 November 2019 — Celebrating the biggest international baseball event of the year, social media giant Twitter Inc. is launching emoji ‘hashflags’ for the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Premier12®, which opens on Saturday, 2 November, with Group A action in Guadalajara (Mexico) and concludes with the Finals at the Tokyo Dome on the 17th.

For the entire month of November, beginning 1 November at 00:00 Japan Standard Time, fans around on the world will be able to use the tournament’s official hashtags on Twitter to activate the Premier12 logo as well as those of the 12 participating National Teams.

The official hashtag for the global tournament can be activated on Twitter — the Official Social Media Platform of the 2019 WBSC Premier12 — in five languages, including English, Japanese, Korean, Spanish and Traditional Chinese:

The Top 12 nations and territories in the WBSC World Rankings will compete in the major international baseball event, with opening rounds set to be played in Guadalajara, Seoul (Korea) and Taichung (Taiwan). The top two finishers from each group will collide in the Super Round (11-16 November) for a spot in the Finals.

The 2019 WBSC Premier12 will award two qualifying places into the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and $5.2 million USD in prize money.
