Rob Cordemans reaches 2,000 Strikeout mark in Loss on Thursday

Veteran right-hander Rob Cordemans reached the 2,000-strikeout mark for regular season games in the Dutch Hoofdklasse in a 2-9 loss of his L&D Amsterdam Pirates against Curacao Neptunus Rotterdam on Thursday evening. Sitting at 1,999 prior to the start of the game he struck out Jochem Koedijk in the third inning to reach the milestone.

He finished with 4 1/3 innings pitched, while allowing eight hits, four runs and a walk. He struck out only Koedijk. Curacao Neptunus took the lead in the fourth and combined for seven runs in the fifth and sixth to win the game. Stijn van der Meer and Dwayne Kemp picked up three RBI apiece. Shaldimar Daantji went 4-for-4.

In the other matchups on Thursday in the Hoofdklasse, HCAW edged out DSS 4-3, the Hoofddorp Pioniers beat the Twins Oosterhout 5-3 and Quick Amersfoort routed the Silicon Storks 11-1.
