The Bonn Capitals have reached the finals of the German Baseball-Bundesliga. They defeated the Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg 3-2 in the best-of-five semi-finals. Bonn won game five 3-2, a game which had to be suspended due to darkness on September 16 and was resumed in the fifth inning on Saturday, September 29.
The continuation of the decisive match was unspectacular with Bonn’s pitcher Sascha Koch only facing some trouble in the eighth inning, when Regensburg moved a runner to third base with two outs. Game four of the Bonn-Regensburg series was a 19-inning thriller, which was won 3-2 by the Capitals.
In the German baseball finals Bonn will face the Heidenheim Heidekoepfe in a best-of-five series, which starts on Wednesday, October 3 at 2pm in Bonn – a national holiday in Germany. Games two and three then will be played on October 6 and 7 in Heidenheim. Games four and five again will be played in Bonn on October 13 and 14.
The Capitals will broadcast games one, four and five at www.sportdeutschland.tv. Legionaere TV will broadcast games two and three at www.legionaere.de/tv.
