European Champions Cup 2018: Results Day 4, June 9, 2018

Posted on June 9, 2018 by philipp

Curacao Neptunus Rotterdam and ASD Rimini will meet in the final of the 2018 European Champions Cup in Rotterdam. ASD Rimini defeated Italian Serie A1 rival Unipol Bologna 2-1 in the semi-final on Saturday afternoon. In the evening Curacao Neptunus followed with a 4-0 shutout over the Rouen Huskies. Diegomar Markwell threw a five-hit complete game shutout.

Meanwhile one of the powerhouses in European Baseball will lose a spot in the European Champions Cup for 2019. The surprises at the tournament in Rotterdam continued on Saturday, as first the VOITH Heidenheim Heidekoepfe came back from an 0-4 deficit to edge out T&A San Marino 6-5. Sascha Lutz first robbed a home run in the seventh inning and then hit a solo shot for the sixth run in the ninth to lift Heidenheim to the win. Later in the day Draci Brno blew by L&D Amsterdam 8-0. Therefore San Marino and Amsterdam will play in the relegation matchup on Sunday with the loser getting relegated to the CEB Cup.
