In the German Baseball-Bundesliga game day number two was played this past weekend. In the northern division the Bonn Capitals defeated the Untouchables Paderborn in both ends of a doubleheader. The Solingen Alligators and Hamburg Stealers settled for the split in another meeting of playoff contenders. The Dohren Wild Farmers celebrated a sweep over the Berlin Flamingos. In game two Edvardas Matusevicius pitched three scoreless innings of relief, drove in the tying run in the eighth and hit a walk-off solo home run in the tenth. The Cologne Cardinals picked up two wins as well over the Bremen Dockers.
In the southern division the Mainz Athletics, Heidenheim Heidekoepfe, Munich-Haar Disciples and Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg swept their opponents. Mainz however needed to overcome a deficit in game one of their two wins over the promoted Ulm Falcons. Heidenheim, which brought back former Regensburg player Ludwig Glaser from retirement, defeated the Stuttgart Reds with a pair of lopsided results. The Buchbinder Legionaere downed the Mannheim Tornados 18-0 and 3-2. The victory in game two was highlighted by a triple play and a two-run fate-changing home run through Jonathan Heimler. The Disciples beat a strong Saarlouis Hornets team.
