The Netherlands and Czech Republic will play in the final of the U23 European Championship in Brno, Czech Republic on Sunday at 7pm. The final will be broadcasted live at www.playo.tv. The Dutch team defeated Belgium 10-5 in the semi-final on Saturday, while the Czech prevailed 7-3 over Spain.
Belgium opened the game against the heavy favorite with a three-run first. But the Netherlands answered with seven runs between the second and the fourth. Maickel Rietel pitched four scoreless one-hit innings in relief to close out the victory. The Czech scored all seven runs in the fourth and fifth combined for a 7-0 lead. Spain scored three runs afterwards, but wasn’t able to complete a comeback.
Earlier in the day Germany and France secured their spot in the U23 A-Pool in Europe with wins over Great Britain and Croatia. Both will play for fifth place on Sunday.
