The Czech Republic bested Germany also in the second of three exhibition games this week between these two teams. The squad of manager Mike Griffin prevailed 7-4 on Wednesday evening at the Armin-Wolf-Arena in Regensburg. On Tuesday the Czech team already had won 7-1 in a game played in Heidenheim. Game three of the series is set for Regensburg on Thursday. Legionaere TV will broadcast the game live at 7pm CET.

Petr Cech, who played for the Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg in the past, gave the Czech Republic a 3-0 lead in the second inning with a long home run over the center field wall. In the following innings the Czech team extended continuously their lead including a pair of RBI singles by Matej Hejma and were up 7-2 midway through the eighth. Germany threatened to rally, but during Elias von Garßen’s two-run single he got thrown out at second base trying to stretch it into a double and ending the comeback try.

Von Garßen finished the game with three RBI in his first appearance for Germany’s men’s national team. Boris Bokaj earned the win with five innings, allowing six hits and two runs, while striking out three. Sascha Koch got charged with the loss, surrendering three extra-base hits, three runs and two walks in three innings. Michal Sobotka, Jiri Vavrusa, Josef Cihlar and Mikal Vykoukal also pitched for the Czech Republic. Kevin Trisl, Jonathan Eisenhuth and Lukas Steinlein followed Koch on the mound for Germany.
