European Champions Cup 2017 in Regensburg: Recaps Day 4, June 10, 2017

Posted on June 10, 2017June 11, 2017 by philipp

Unipol Bologna and Curacao Neptunus Rotterdam will play in the final of the European Champions Cup 2017 in Regensburg. Bologna dethroned defending champion L&D Amsterdam with a 9-8 win in an exciting semi-final in the evening. Osman Marval, Robel Garcia, Paolino Ambrosino and Eladio Russo hit home runs for Fortitudo, Max Clarijs for Amsterdam. Bologna was leading 7-0 at one point in the game, but Amsterdam made it interesting even put the tying run on base in the ninth inning. But in the end the Italian champion held on to the win.

The second semi-final earlier in the day was much clearer. Diegomar Markwell pitched a complete game and led Curacao Neptunus to a 7-1 win. The Dutch national teamer allowed just eight hits, a run and a walk in nine innings. Cristian Diaz and Gregory Muller collected two RBI apiece for Rotterdam. Mario Chiarini scored the lone run for San Marino. Josh Kimborowicz got charged with the loss.

Meanwhile Germany will lose a spot in the European Champions Cup last year, as the Mainz Athletics and Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg lost their games to Rimini and Rouen Huskies on Saturday to reach the relegation game on Sunday.
