The Swedish Elitserien is opening the 2017 season this coming weekend with four games. On Saturday the Stockholm Monarchs are hosting defending champion Leksand Lumberjacks for a doubleheader and the Sundbyberg Heat take on the Rättvik Butchers.
On Tuesday and Thursday next weekend the Swedish Academy will enter the competition with games against Sundbyberg and Stockholm.
Also in the Elitserien will be the Sundsvall Mosquitoes and the Sölvesborg Firehawks. Sundsvall promoted to the top division in Swedish baseball this winter, as the league size rises from six to seven this year compared to last season. The regular season will be played through August 26.
