The Vienna Wanderers won the opening game of the newly formed Baseball League Austria 5-1 on Friday evening over the Diving Ducks Wiener Neustadt. Christian Tomsich struck out ten batters in eight scoreless innings for the win. He conceded only six hits. His battery mate Christoph Hoscher drove in two of the five runs. Jose Ortiz scored the lone run for the Diving Ducks in the top of the ninth. Matthias Scheicher got charged with the loss.
