The Netherlands cruised to an easy 5-0 win over Korea on Tuesday evening in their first game of the first round at the 2017 World Baseball Classic at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. For Korea it was the second loss in as many games in the tournament.

Rick van den Hurk and four relievers kept Korea to six hits and four walks in nine scoreless innings. Van den Hurk issued just three hits and two walks in his return to the Dutch team. Diegomar Markwell, Shairon Martis, Tom Stuifbergen and Loek van Mil afterwards closed out the shutout.

At the plate Jurickson Profar got things going with a two-run home run in the first. A RBI double by Andrelton Simmons made it 3-0, while Randolph Oduber capped the scoring with a two-run home run in the sixth.
