The Austrian Baseball Federation (ABF) announced a different format to the 2017 season in the Austrian Baseball League. The top division in Austria gets increased to ten teams, which are split into two groups in the east and west. Both divisions will play intra and inter division games. Afterwards the group winners advance directly to the semi-finals,
while the teams in second and third will play quarterfinals.
