Austria and the Czech Republic met for a doubleheader in Brno on Sunday to finish up preparations on European soil for the U23 Baseball World Cup in Monterrey. After the 17-0 rout by the Czech team last week in Vienna, both teams split a seven-inning doubleheader on Sunday.

In game one the Czech Republic edged out a 4-3 win. Two runs each in the first and fourth gave the Czech team a 4-1 lead. David Vohanka and Michael Vykoukal had three hits apiece for the Czech.

In game two however Austria overcame an early 0-3 deficit en route to a 6-3 victory. They tied the game in the bottom of the fourth and scored runs in the sixth and seventh to seal the win. Raphael Mayr scored twice. Martin Gruber drove in two. Vohanka had two more RBI for the Czech.
