Posted on September 7, 2016 by philipp

After a rest day on Tuesday the Women’s Baseball World Cup in Gijang City resumed play on Wednesday with the first games of the Consolation and Super Rounds.

In the Super Round Chinese Taipei stunned host Korea with an 11-1 rout. In a meeting of undefeated teams Japan prevailed 7-2 against Venezuela. Canada edged out Australia 5-3.

In the Consolation Round the Netherlands lost 8-9 against Cuba. The Dutch team had erased an early 0-4 deficit and got ahead 6-5 with four runs in the top of the seventh. However Cuba tied the contest in the bottom half and sent the contest into extra innings. In the eighth the Netherlands put two runs on the board, but Cuba countered with three and won the game. In other games Hong Kong shut out India 10-0 and the United States blew by Pakistan 34-0.
