Dutch Hoofdklasse Playoffs: Curacao Neptunus, Vaessen Pioniers with 1-Run-Victories

Posted on August 26, 2016 by philipp

The semi-final round robin in the Dutch Hoofdklasse continued on Thursday with a pair of one-run victories. Curacao Neptunus beat L&D Amsterdam 4-3. A throwing error in the fourth, which scored Rotterdam’s fourth run for a 4-1 lead turned out to be the game-winner. Michael Duursma put Amsterdam within one run with a two-run double in the fifth. But the Pirates didn’t score again. Diegomar Markwell picked up the win. Dennis Burgersdijk got charged with the loss.

In the second matchup the Vaessen Pioniers downed Kinheim 5-4. The team from Hoofddorp overcame a 2-4 deficit by scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh. Christian Garia tied the game with a two-run single and then scored moments later through a groundout. Maickel Rietel earned the win in relief of a solid Lars Huijer. Reggio Bomberg took the loss.

The semi-final round robin in the Dutch Hoofdklasse ends this weekend.
