Unipol Bologna has taken a 2-1 lead in the Italian Baseball Series against ASD Rimini. Fortitudo won game three on Monday by a score of 5-4. A three-run home run by Alex Sambucci in the first and a two-run shot by Ronny Cedeno in the fifth made the difference. The Pirates were able to cut the deficit to a run in the seventh, but weren’t able to push the tying run over the plate.

Jairo Ramos drove in two runs for Rimini. Raul Rivero issued four hits, two runs (1 ER) and a walk in 4 2/3 innings for the win. Jose Escalona got charged with the loss, surrendering four hits, five runs and four base on balls in 4 2/3 innings. Game four of the best-of-seven series is set for Tuesday at 8.30pm.
