Amsterdam, Oosterhout with lopsided Wins in Hoofdklasse on Thursday

Posted on May 5, 2016May 5, 2016 by philipp

The Dutch Hoofdklasse played four afternoon games on Thursday. DSS delivered the lone home win, when they prevailed 5-1 over Kinheim at Pim Mulier Stadium in Haarlem. Donny Breek struck out seven in six scoreless innings for the win. Joffrey Heus drove in two. Luis Figuera Roman got charged with the loss.

The other three matchups ended with road wins. L&D Amsterdam won 14-7 over HCAW in Bussum. Five runs in the first gave the Pirates an early lead, which they built on during the remainder of the game. Former Texas Rangers minor leaguer Nick Urbanus led the way by going 4-for-6 with two homeruns, a triple, a double, three runs scored and four RBI. He missed the cycle by a single. Kevin Heijstek struck out ten in six innings for the win. Rossini Frolijk hit a solo home run for HCAW.

De Glaskoning Twins also celebrated a lopsided win. They prevailed 10-2 over UVV in Utrecht. The Twins scored all ten runs in the last three frames. Berry van Donselaar and Mick Molenaar combined for seven RBI. Justin Erasmus, who is going to transfer to Germany in mid-May pitched seven scoreless innings for the win. Sergino Martis accounted for both UVV runs with a two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth.

Meanwhile reigning champion Curacao Neptunus Rotterdam won 4-1 against the Vaessen Pioniers. The Pioniers took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth through a RBI double by Brian Raap. However they failed to score again and Curacao Neptunus got back. Raily Legito tied the game with a sac fly in the sixth. A RBI single by Daniel Fernandes put them in front with a RBI single one frame later. A RBI double by Christian Diaz and a solo home run by Rien Vernooij in the eighth and ninth provided some insurance.
