Dutch Hoofdklasse: Tie Game between Curacao Neptunus and Corendon Kinheim

Posted on April 22, 2016 by philipp

Due to the curfew rule, which states that no new inning can be started after 10.30pm, a game in the Dutch Hoofdklasse ended in a tie on Thursday evening. Curacao Neptunus tied Corendon Kinheim 9-9 after ten innings. The score was 6-6 after the ninth. In the first extra inning Kinheim’s three runs in the top half were answered by three Rotterdam runs in the bottom half. An obstruction call led to the tying run by Rien Vernooij. Both teams already had a thrilling ninth frame, when Corendon took a 6-5 lead with two runs, but Curacao Neptunus answered with Christian Diaz’ RBI double to send the game into overtime.

Also the other three games in the Hoofdklasse on Thursday had close outcomes. L&D Amsterdam nearly blew a 9-2 lead, as DSS scored five runs in the last two frames of a 7-9 loss at Pim Mulier Stadium. Gilmer Lampe and Melvin Perdue had four hits apiece. HCAW handed UVV their first loss of the season with a 4-2 victory in Bussum. A two-run double by Kevin Nieveld and a RBI single by Marciano Philippi highlighted the decisive three-run rally in the eighth. Lars Huijer pitched seven strong innings and the offense scored all four runs in the sixth of a 4-2 win by the Vaessen Pioniers over De Glaskoning Twins.
