Week three in the Italian Baseball League started on Thursday evening with a matchup between ASD Rimini and T&A San Marino. The Pirates won 7-1, as they took a quick lead and then blew the score open with a four-run seventh.
Alexis Candelario led the way, striking out 12 batters in seven scoreless four-hits, three-walk innings. Jairo Ramos had a two-run double and three RBI in total. Mirco Caradonna hit an inside-the-park two-run home run. Ennio Retrosi scored twice.
Former Rimini captain Mario Chiarini, who is playing for San Marino since last year, went deep in the ninth to avoid the shutout. Carlos Quevedo got charged with the loss, surrendering five hits, six runs (4 ER) and four base on balls in 6 2/3 innings.
