The German Baseball-Bundesliga played its third game day of the year this past weekend. Only one team is still undefeated. The Bonn Capitals are 4-0, but had a bye in week three. The Solingen Alligators suffered their first loss of the year. In game one they overcame a 1-9 deficit to beat the Hamburg Stealers 11-10 on a grand slam by Jadd Schmeltzer. In game two however Schmeltzer lost the pitcher’s duel against Louis Cohen, as the Stealers prevailed 4-0. Solingen improved to 5-1. For Hamburg it was the first doubleheader of the season.
In the south the Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg and the Mainz Athletics split a two-game set. The Buchbinder Legionaere won 2-0 on Friday night, as Mike Bolsenbroek beat Jan-Niclas Stoecklin. On Saturday Eric Massingham led Mainz to a 6-0 win with Peter Johannessen and Max Boldt going deep. Additionally the Heidenheim Heidekoepfe and Munich-Haar Disciples celebrated sweeps.
