The German Baseball and Softball Federation (DBV) announced on Wednesday that Martin Helmig is going to be part of the coaching staff of Team Germany during the World Baseball Classic Qualifier in Mexicali, Mexico. The German Baseball Hall of Famer, who is currently coaching a third-division team in Germany, was one of the best German players during his active career and has won several national titles with the Untouchables Paderborn and Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg as head coach. Germany faces Mexico, Czech Republic and Nicaragua from March 17 to 20 in Mexicali.
