Italian Baseball League officially to play with 7 Teams in 2016

Posted on January 26, 2016January 25, 2016 by philipp

It was basically the only solution after the reunion of Nettuno and Nettuno 2 two weeks ago, but now the Italian Baseball and Softball Federation (FIBS) has made it official. The Italian Baseball League will start into the 2016 season with seven instead of eight teams. The Federal Council met during the Italian Coach Convention in Rome last weekend and confirmed the reduction. The new season still will start on the weekend of April 8 and 9. During the regular season a round robin with 14 game days will be played. Afterwards the semi-finals in a best-of-seven format will follow (July 28 to August 7). The Italian Baseball Series remains scheduled between August 11 and 21. Also the Coppa Italia was adjusted with the finals being played as Final Four after the end of the Italian Baseball Series.
