European Participants impress at Power Showcase in Miami

Posted on January 4, 2016January 4, 2016 by philipp

Three European players participated last week in the annual Power Showcase at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida, Julian Rip and Nick Keur from the Netherlands and Fred Walter from France. Rip and Walter were finalists of the Home Run Derby after hitting five home runs apiece in the preliminary round. Walter won the tie-breaker due to distance on its home runs and got the award for the most home runs during the first round. The French prospect however didn’t pass the fence in the finals. Rip went deep three times in the final round. Justin Farmer won the elusive Power Showcase Home Run Derby with six home runs. He follows in the footsteps of Bryce Harper, who produced highlights at the Home Run Derby in 2009 and 2010. The Power Showcase was concluded with a game between the participants with Keur starting for the World Team, which won 7-6. Rip and Walter also played.
