The independent league team Evansville Otters has announced that they have signed 25-year-old Belgian Thomas De Wolf for the 2016 season. He last played for the Stuttgart Reds, which he led into the playoffs for the first time last year. He was the first player from Belgium to get signed by a MLB team, when he joined the New York Mets in 2008. He batted .448/.566/.851 with nine home runs in 26 games during the regular season in the German Baseball-Bundesliga. He also went 3-4 with an ERA of 5.37 in 12 games as pitcher for the Reds.
