Italy is having a successful training camp in Taiwan these days. On Tuesday they completed a three-game sweep against the University of Taichung. On Sunday they downed a team from Taichung 7-2 with Alessandro Maestri, Junior Oberto, Ludovico Coveri, Felipe Crepaldi, Gianny Fracchiolla and Nick Morreale sharing the workload on the mound. On Monday the Squadra Azzurri Andrea Panerati, Carlos Teran, Lugo and Roberto Corradini combined in a 3-0 shutout. On Tuesday the team of manager Marco Mazzieri prevailed 9-5. Carlos Richetti, Yomel Rivera, Coveri, Trey Nielsen, Fracchiolla and Crepaldi split time on the mound. Mario Chiarini collected three hits at the plate. On Friday and Saturday Italy squares off against Venezuela in Taichung and Mexico in Dou-Liou.
