Italian Baseball League 2016 starts on April 8, adjusted Format

Last weekend FIBS and the eight participating clubs met in Bologna to discuss the 2016 season in the Italian Baseball League. Following the meeting it was announced that the new season start on April 8. The eight teams will be split into two divisions of four. Besides a double round robin within the division an interleague section will be played as well.

Three games will be played per week to increase the number of games from the 2015 season. The playoffs would start on July 1, the Italian Baseball Series on August 11. One of the three games has to be pitched by Italian players. Five foreign players are allowed on the roster. Prior to the second half of the season three of these foreign players can be substituted. The calendar will be announced following a meeting on November 20.
