Game 3 Summary – Therwil Flyers 11 –Zurich Barracudas 5

The Therwil Flyers set the tone in the first inning as they took advantage of a leadoff walk and a two run home run from Jack Shannon to make it quickly a 2-0 ball game. Barracudas pitcher Andi Rüesch needed 29 pitches to get out of the inning and it took a toll on him later in the game.
The Barracudas came back and added two runs to tie the game in the 3rd inning when Chris Michals walked, stole 2nd base and scored on a single by Shane Uhle. After a wild pitch moved Uhle to 2nd base Nderim Coma belted a single to tie the score. The Flyers added a run in the 4th to take the lead 3-2
The game remained tight until the 6th inning when the Flyers erupted for six unanswered runs to take a 9-2 lead and put the game out of reach. The Flyers took advantage of two hit by pitches and a wild pitch to start the inning. The Barracudas walked Daniel Eichenberger to load the bases with no outs. Flyer veteran Stephan Koller looped a single to right to score a run. Barracudas coach Chris Byrnes then made a mound visit and Roger Savoldelli came in to face Adi Kaufmann with the bases juiced. Kaufmann won the battle and singled to left for another run. Savoldelli then got Sebastian Zwyer to ground out but another run scored making it a 6-2 ball game. Lucas Hagberg then stepped to the plate and launched a rocket deep into the streets for a three run home run to put the game out of reach. Interestingly enough, Hagberg’s college teammate Kris Bryant who plays for the Chicago Cubs also homered on Saturday.
Game four will take place on Saturday in Zurich with Chris Michals going up against Jack Shannon in a rematch of game 2. Both pitches were exceptional so the fans should be treated to another exciting ball game.
