For the 12th time ASD Rimini has won the Italian Baseball Championship. The Pirates shut out Unipol Bologna 7-0 in game four of the best-of-seven Italian Baseball Series on Tuesday evening to sweep the series 4-0. It’s their first title since 2006 and their first finals win after three unsuccessful attempts the past three years.

Alexis Candelario issued just four hits and two walks in seven scoreless innings to lead Rimini to the win. He struck out eight and was named Most Valuable Player of the Italian Series afterwards. Raul Rivero matched him for the first six innings, but in the seventh Rimini erupted for six runs and sealed the win. Leonardo Zileri, Riccardo Bertagnon and Giuseppe Spinelli had two hits apiece for Rimini.

Bologna had dominated through the regular season and the semi-final round robin, including eight wins out of ten games against Rimini.
