The away teams dominated the start of the game day in the Dutch Hoofdklasse on Thursday evening. Curacao Neptunus Rotterdam defeated DSS at Pim Mulier Stadium in Haarlem by a score of 7-2. Orlando Yntema and two relievers kept DSS to two runs in nine innings. Stijn van der Meer went 3-for-4 with three RBI. Tim Halderman got charged with the loss.

L&D Amsterdam won the matchup between the number one and the number three in the standings. They defeated the Vaessen Pioniers 6-3 in Hoofddorp. A sac fly by Nick Urbanus in the fifth broke the scoreless tie and the Pirates extended the lead afterwards. Remco Draijer, who had four hits, and Bas Nooij went deep for Amsterdam. Dennis Burgersdijk received the win, Elton Koeiman the loss.

HCAW Bussum erased a 0-2 deficit on route to a 4-2 win over Mampaey The Hawks. They tied the game in the fifth and scored the two decisive runs in the top of the eighth. Roy Seltenrijch drove in the go-ahead run with a RBI single. Steven van Groningen struck out five in three scoreless one-hit innings of relief. Jose Moreno got charged with the loss.

In the duel for fourth place in the standings, Corendon Kinheim edged out UVV 5-4. A RBI single by Jeffrey Arends in the seventh proved to be the difference, as UVV cut the deficit to one run in the eighth, when Dennis De Quindt drove in a run with a single and then scored another. They brought the tying run to second base in the ninth, but weren’t able to take advantage. Dashenko Ricardo went 5-for-5 with two doubles, two runs and three RBI for Kinheim. Pim Walsma earned the win in relief. Thijs Steenwijk took the loss.
