Regensburg travels to Mainz in German Baseball-Bundesliga

Posted on July 2, 2015July 2, 2015 by philipp

In the German Baseball-Bundesliga league play continues with a full game day, starting on Friday with a contest between the Mainz Athletics and the Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg. Mainz owns a two-game lead in the standings over the Stuttgart Reds for fourth place in the standings. Regensburg is two games ahead of the Heidenheim Heidekoepfe in first place. When both teams met in April Regensburg prevailed in both ends of the doubleheader, but the A’s hope to use home field to their advantage.

After this prelude on Friday night all eyes will be on the northern division in Germany, as the Solingen Alligators and Bonn Capitals meet in a crucial home-and-home series. Both teams are well on their way for a spot in the playoffs, but the number-one seed is on the line. Bonn is currently in first place with a 17-1 record with the only loss being a 0-5 defeat against Solingen. The Alligators meanwhile sit in second with a 15-2 record. They had lost the second game to Bonn 0-5. With only a few games left a sweep would put either team into the pole position for the northern championship. The game on Sunday will be broadcasted live on Radio.
