Top 4 claim Wins in Second Phase Openers in Dutch Hoofdklasse

Posted on June 12, 2015 by philipp

The Dutch Hoofdklasse continued on Thursday with the first four games of the second phase of the regular season. And once again it started with the top four winning. Curacao Neptunus stormed past HCAW Bussum 15-0, scoring all 15 runs in the first four frames. Gianison Boekhoudt homered. Christian Diaz drove in four. Orlando Yntema and Jorian van Acker combined for a two-hitter.

L&D Amsterdam celebrated a lopsided 13-2 win over UVV in eight innings. Nine different players scored runs. Kenny Berkenbosch crossed the plate twice and drove in two. Rob Cordemans pitched three one-hit frames before Dennis Burgersdijk took over to claim the win.

The other two games were a lot closer. The Vaessen Pioniers prevailed 5-4 over Mampaey The Hawks, scoring all five runs in the sixth. In the ninth the Hawks rallied for two runs, but a groundout ended the comeback try shortly afterwards. Ricardo Hernandez struck out 12 in seven innings for the win.

Corendon Kinheim defeated DSS 5-0 in an inner-Haarlem matchup. Tom Stuifbergen, David Bergman and Arshwin Asjes kept DSS scoreless in nine innings. Rick Geestman got charged with the loss. The three-game series continue on Saturday afternoon at 2pm.
