Former Sant Boi, San Marino hurler Junior Guerra reaches Big Leagues

Posted on June 9, 2015 by philipp

30-year-old pitcher Junior Guerra has been promoted to the big leagues by the Chicago White Sox. They called him up to Major League Baseball to replace the injured Dan Jennings. Guerra started his professional career with the Atlanta Braves in 2006 and later also pitched for the New York Mets organization.

When this didn’t pan out the Venezuelan went to Europe to play for CBS Sant Boi in the Spanish Division de Honor. After one of the most dominant seasons he went back to the United States, playing in independent leagues before joining T&A San Marino for the 2014 season. After a solid stint in the Venezuelan Winter League this past offseason he got an invite to Major League Spring Training by the White Sox and scored a minor league contract to pitch in Double-A and Triple-A.

Now he is a 30-year-old rookie in the big leagues.
