Three games were played at the European Cup in Chartres and Paris, France. L&D Amsterdam improved to 2-0, while Unipol Bologna and the Solingen Alligators captured their first wins of the tournament. The round robin continues through Saturday. The top two teams qualify for the final on Sunday.

L&D Amsterdam Pirates – T&A San Marino 6-0

Box score

The day at Stade Pershing in Paris started with another gem of veteran Rob Cordemans. The Dutch right-hander led L&D Amsterdam to a 6-0 shutout over T&A San Marino in a matchup between opening day winners. Cordemans allowed just six hits – all singles – and two walks, while going the distance. Roeland Henrique drove in three runs, two on a single in a three-run eighth. Carlos Teran got charged with the loss, surrendering five hits, three runs (2 ER) and three base on balls in 5 2/3 innings.

Unipol Bologna – Brest Zubrs 15-0 (6)

Box score

Unipol Bologna, which was stunned by Italian Baseball League rival T&A San Marino on opening day, rebounded with a 15-0 blowout against Brest Zubrs. The game was over after six innings due to 15-run rule. Luca Panerati, Pietro Cadoni and Lorenzo Dobboletta combined to keep Brest to one hit, while striking out 12. Martin Mondino went 2-for-2 with a double and four RBI. Guillermo Rodriguez collected three hits, three runs and three RBI. Marco Sabbatani also drove in three. Uladzislau Ilyin got charged with the loss, surrendering six hits, six runs (5 ER) and a walk in four innings.  Brest dropped to 0-2.

Paris UC – Solingen Alligators 4-17 (8)

Box score

Tanner Leighton collected four hits, two homeruns – a grand slam – and seven RBI to lead the Solingen Alligators to a lopsided 17-4 win over host Paris UC in the evening game on Wednesday. Five runs in the first and seven in the eight delivered the big blows in the contest. Daniel Sanchez and Dominik Wulf also scored thrice. Harry Glynne picked up the win on his birthday, allowing four hits, three runs (1 ER) and two walks in seven innings. James Murrey drove in two for PUC. Enrique Juma Trinidad gave up eight hits, eight runs (6 ER) and three walks in three-plus innings. Both teams are 1-1 after two days of competition.

Outlook

On Thursday L&D Amsterdam is heavy favorite at 12pm in Paris against Brest Zubrs. At 3pm T&A San Marino and the Solingen Alligators hope to jump over .500 in Chartres. In the evening PUC tries to rebound at 5pm against Unipol Bologna.
