Unipol Bologna completes Sweep in IBL

Unipol Bologna is ready for the European Cup in Paris next week. On Friday evening they completed their sweep of Angel Service Nettuno 2 in Rome with an 8-3 victory. Nearly blowing a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth they scored four insurance runs afterwards to claim the win. Eladio Russo homered. Claudio Liverziani drove in two. Osman Marvel collected two RBI for Nettuno 2. Riccardo De Santis allowed just one hit in five innings.

Meanwhile the other two participants from the IBL shared wins. After San Marino’s victory ASD Rimini dominated 11-1 on Friday. Mainly thanks to an eight-run rally in the third. Edgar Mundarain hit a three-run home run and collected four RBI. Carlos Richetti pitched seven strong innings for the win. Andrea Pizziconi took the loss.

Additionally Tommasin Padua celebrated a 2-0 shutout in 11 innings over the Godo Knights. The tie breaker decided the outcome in the second extra inning. Angel Calero then shut the door to give Padua the next win. Carlos Quevedo and Ronald Uviedo kept the scoreboard scoreless as starting pitchers.

Nettuno defeated Parma 5-0 thanks to a five-run fifth. Jose Ferrini had the big hit with a bases clearing triple. Paul Estrada and Jhonny Montoya gave up just four hits in nine innings. Jose Jimenez got charged with the loss.
