The top two teams in Austrian Baseball split the series 1-1

Posted on August 17, 2007April 9, 2021 by MrBB

The top two teams in the Austrian Baseball League battled to a 1-1 split last weekend as the Superfund Wanderers (16-4) blanked the Vienna Metrostars 8-0 in the second game. The Metrostars cruised to an easy 12-2 win in the opening contest.

The Wanderers have won 11-of-12 games and will meet a tough Union Kufstein Vikings (12-8) squad this coming weekend. The Vikings are in a battle with the Attnang Athletics for the No. 3 playoff seed

Vienna (15-5) briefly moved into a tie for the top spot after their victory over the Wanderers left both teams with identical 15-4 marks. The Metrostars have won 4-of-6 games and will host the Dornbirn Indians on Saturday in a single game.

The Athletics (13-9) took two games from the Stock City Cubs last weekend, 4-3 and 11-2, and will finish the regular season on Saturday against the lowly Tulln Ravens (2-18).

The Vikings and the Indians split a pair of games last weekend and both have difficult assignments this week. Dornbirn meets Vienna on Saturday while Union Kufstein battles the Wanderers on Sunday.
